This beautiful red poppy is growing in a garden near my home. Isn’t it lovely? Oh and it’s huge! It must be 3 inches across.
The first few years that I had my garden I used to grow a few different poppy varieties but I keep forgetting to plant new seeds in the spring so I haven’t had any poppies growing in my garden for a while now. Oh well … Sigh …

Did you take that? If so, good job! I would have moved the center of the poppy to one side, or even a corner, and then gotten in closer just a bit. A tip I read a lot in photography magazines/books is that you should put a square of tape/ink/whatever in the center of your viewfinder (or just imagine one there) to ensure that the picture is still interesting without anything in the center. If you do that, you’ll be amazed at how much better your shots will get.
