Sweet sweet Tiffany

I adore this rose. It’s a hybrid tea and it’s called Tiffany.

Unfortunately Tiffany is a Little pretentious because she’s not growing as nicely as I’d like her too (perhaps if I pulled out the daisies that end up blocking some of her sun she might change her mind) and as a result she doesn’t bloom as often as she should either. But, Oh my … when she blooms? Look at that gorgeous, gorgeous rose!

With this rose I thank you for the great year we’ve had together. I started blogging this year and I’ve met so many great people. It’s just been wonderful. Thank you! I’m looking forward to many more good years ahead and hopefully keeping in touch with my new blogging friends, as well as perhaps even being lucky enough to met a few of you in the New Year.

May you all have a Happy New Year. Stay safe!

BTW – have a peek at Parking Lot Revenge. I posted it earlier today. I hope that none of you have been as bad while driving around the parking lot this week while you’ve been out catching all the end of the year sales! The link opens in a new tab.

Good advice found on Small business blog

December 31, 2006 by Tricia

Someone made a comment on one of my recent posts, I think it was my last Thursday Thirteen, that they’d love to find a way to make money at home. I agree, I’d also love to find a way to run a successful small business, preferably from my own home and make enough money to live on, if not more.

Well, the Small business blog may be able to help some of use with some ideas. One of their recent posts titled “Home based business Trends in 2007” lists a number of ideas for small businesses that I hadn’t even thought about.

I’ve only just started reading the blog but I can already see that it’s going to be an asset. I’m going to bookmark it and revisit it to read the latest posts. Some topics that I’ve found interesting and helpful have been ones about small business taxes, articles of successful small businesses and of course the home based business trend post that I mentioned earlier.

Check this site out if you want to start a small business of your own.

Parking lot revenge

December 31, 2006 by Tricia

Still Shopping?

I’m sure that all of you have heard of Road Rage? Not a nice thing to experience, no matter which side of it you’re on.

We actually got chased by a car once when we backed out of our driveway, slowing down a car that should have stopped at the stop sign on the adjoining street he was turning onto our street from but didn’t. He didn’t like us taking our right of way and pulling out of our driveway I guess ’cause he chased for several blocks through the neighborhood. He didn’t stop chasing us until we happened to pull up at a set of lights beside a police car to tell the police what was happening. Of course the guy took off after that.

This video is timely. It’s about road rage in the parking lot. I guess you could call it parking lot rage? It’s a funny video – but let it serve a reminder to not tick anyone off when you’re in the parking lot of busy malls this weekend getting your last minute gifts and supplies.

Belated Christmas Gift for Chris – Concert Tickets

December 31, 2006 by Tricia

As you know Chris and I didn’t get Christmas gifts for each other this year. Finances are just too tight. We’re fine, but right now we just can’t over spend on anything. I’m pretty sure our financial situation will get better in January and better each month afterwords. I’ve been working on a few things and expect to start seeing some profit from my work around that time.

I sort of got my Christmas present early this year anyway. Remember I got a laptop in August? Yeah, we can call that my September Birthday gift, and my Christmas gift too. I’m fine with that. So … since I already got my gift, I’m now wondering what nice thing I can do for Chris in the new year when our finances are better?

I know he loves the Dave Matthews Band. A friend from Louisiana put us onto the band many many years ago. We were surprised to hear that Dave Matthews is actually Canadian but he’s made the majority of his success in the US. The band is so good they even won a Grammy in 1997 for Best Rock Vocal performance by a duo or group for the single So much to Say. We both enjoy the band, but Chris as I said is a big fan. It always seems like the Dave Matthews band is touring or playing somewhere as we hear about them quite often but we’ve never managed to see them play yet.

Now, I know they are playing in L.A. in March. March 23rd and 24th to be exact. I don’t know if we can make it to an L.A. concert, but I think I might investigate purchasing some Dave Matthews Band Tickets. That would be a perfect belated Christmas gift for Chris. If I can manage to make it a surprise that would be even better.

Wish me luck on my hunt!

Enjoy the luxury of a wake up call

December 31, 2006 by Tricia

You know one of the things that I absolutely love when I travel and stay in a hotel? It’s the wake up call that you can get the people at the desk to give in the morning. I get tired easy when I travel and I always worry if I’ll wake up on time. Oh sure I bring my own little travel alarm clock with me, but it’s failed a few times – just plain didn’t work. If I’m traveling and I simply have to get up I can’t be relying on an alarm that may or may not work. Same thing with the hotel room alarm clocks – they don’t always work well either. So I ask for a wake up call. It’s so nice.

Do you agree that wake up calls are nice? Maybe even that they’ve saved your butt a few times? Yeah I thought so.

I bet that you’ve even thought that it’d be nice to have a wake up call at home sometimes too? I’m lucky, if I sleep in my husband usually wakes me up, but if he’s already gone to work or if he’s out of town? Yeah – I’ve been late for work because I’ve slept through the alarm. luckily that’s only happened once or twice, but still, you just feel awful when that happens.

I’m pleased to be able to tell you that you can have a wake up call at home if you want to. Yes, I’m not pulling your leg. There’s a site that you can go to, it’s located at Snoozester.com . This site provides a service that will provide you with wake up calls anywhere, any place, any time.

Just log into the site and sign up for an account. Once you’re registered you can start scheduling your wake up calls. You can schedule the wake up calls to go to any phone number or cell phone that you’d like. You just register and an account, add in your phone number and perhaps your cell number and start schedule wake up calls. It’s that easy. You can even choose to have your wake up calls delivered to you by Snoozester Characters. The characters are fun voices that greet you when you answer the wake up call. You can select from a number of Character voices whenever you schedule a wake up call.

Then there’s a service called Secure Awake – it’s for people that know they don’t wake up easily. This feature tells Snoozester to repeatedly telephone you until you answer the phone. It will call you every three minutes for 20 minutes. When you answer you can select number 1 to confirm that you are awake, or push number 2 to tell snoozester to let you sleep for a while longer and call you back.

The site is very easy to use – just follow the steps in the registration process, and then follow the step by step process to begin scheduling your wake up calls. You get 10 free wake up calls when you sign up with Snoozester. You can sign up for a variety of packages that provide you with a certain number of calls per month. The packages range from 3.99 to 14.99 per month. They even have gift certificates available in case you know someone who could really use this service.

You can learn more about this service by reading through their site or by visiting their sleep blog. Also, if you own or work for a large company with employees that might need regular wake up calls you can visit their Corporate Snoozester site. Contact their customer service if you have questions that aren’t answered on their site, they promise to reply very quickly.
