Hoping to give Tricia’s Musings a new look

February 25, 2012 by Tricia

I’m thinking of giving this blog a new look. As some of my long time readers know I have a few websites and several blogs and over the last week or so I’ve slowly been updating all of the sites and I’ve changed the look of two blogs so far.

Approximately a year ago I purchased the StudioPress theme package, which at the time had about 30 WordPress themes, there’s over 45 themes in the StudioPress Pro Plus All-Theme Package now. I only used one of the themes on one of my sites when I first purchased the Theme pack, and I guess I’ve been slow to start using the themes on my sites but I’m using them now and I love them. I have a feeling that over the next few months most of my blogs will have shiny new StudioPress WordPress Themes.

I think I’ve been using my current theme for this site for about three years so it’s definitely time for a change.

Any suggestions as to what you’d like to see on Tricia’s Musings? I like the two column sidebar look – how do you feel about that look in a WordPress theme? I know some people like pages that are super simple and others don’t mind busy pages. Tell me what you’d like to see. I hope to make changes to this site by the end of the week or so.

Still cleaning the basement – it will never end!

February 25, 2012 by Tricia

I’m trying to get motivated to do some work downstairs in the basement yet again. Yes it’s time to battle that mess once more. This time my husband is home and he’ll be helping me with the mess. He’s only helped once so far so we’ll see how this goes. He certainly helped in the making of the mess in the basement. I certainly couldn’t have piled all those boxes as high as they are – floor to ceiling! Wow.

I don’t think either of us are feeling much like conquering the basement mess today though. We’re both watching TV – catching up on some Hawaii Five 0 episodes that we have stored on our PVR. I also spent some time talking to an old friend for a while. It’s her grandmothers birthday next week and she was trying to decide what to get her and I suggested that she send chocolate strawberries to grandma as I’m sure she’d love that. Who wouldn’t? She seemed to love that idea.

Ok I guess I’d better see when we’re going to start working in the basement. I should get some extra bags and boxes for all the stuff that needs to be sorted and thrown out. If you don’t hear from me for a while I’m buried in the rubble!

Our friend’s working on a comedy tour

February 25, 2012 by Tricia

I found out something interesting last week … My husband came home from work sometime last week – maybe last Wednesday evening and he’d run into an old friend of ours who used to have his own music studio.

I guess our old friend is taking a break from making his own music an helping others record their own music as well .. .because he’s the sound guy for Seinfeld’s Canadian Comedy Tour that’s going on right now. How about that? That’s something cool to be able to put on your resume isn’t it?

I don’t know what his plans are once the tour ends, perhaps he’ll return to his studio full of recording equipment and numark mixers and computers and I don’t even know what everything else was … it must have cost him a fortune to set up his studio. I can’t imagine him getting rid of it.

Anyway I’m really happy that he got a chance to work with Jerry Seinfeld even though it’s totally different work than anything he’s been doing.

Hopefully returning to work

February 17, 2012 by Tricia

I’m hoping to return to work in the next couple of months. If you are a regular reader of this blog you might remember that I’m an ER nurse and that I’ve been off work on medical leave for oh … 6 years!!!! I’ve been off work because of a bad flare of Crohn’s disease. Believe me if you don’t know what Crohn’s is – you don’t want to know.

I’ve actually been feeling somewhat better over the last few months. Even the migraines that knocked me out a year or so ago seem to be under control so I’m think it’s time to try going back to work. Also .. there’s some personal stuff going on here at my house that makes it kind of important that I try going back. I’ve been gone so long I keep going over in my head how to take blood, put in IV’s and do all of the routine things that I used to do practically with my eyes closed! It will take some time before I’m wheeling medication carts around again.

One of the only problems with my return to work is that my doctor isn’t convinced that I’m ready so I have to convince her that I’m going to be able to do it. I’m also hoping that if I do go back to work that perhaps instead of working four 12 hour shifts in a row that rotate from day shifts to night shifts through that four day period – terrible really – that I can do eight hour shifts that are just day and or evening shifts. No more nights, no more quickly rotating 12 hour shifts. We’ll see what happens I suppose.

Wish me luck – I’ll know if I’m returning to the ER very soon.

So tired this week

February 14, 2012 by Tricia

I’m really tired this week. I’m not sure why. I suppose it’s because I was so busy last week and last weekend what with my cousin passing away and my traveling out of town for her funeral. It all happened so fast. Then when I got home I was very tired on the Sunday and kind of nauseated so I didn’t do anything at all that day.

I was still really tired and out of sorts on Monday too. I think I’m just starting to feel a little more like myself today, but I’m still tired.

Oh well … I’ll live!

In other news I’m working at keeping in touch with family members like I said in a recent post. I was just talking with a cousin of mine in the US. We haven’t talked much in the last few years so we talked for quite a while earlier today. He’s doing ok and his kids are doing well in school, but I guess times are tough there. I guess he’s had a bit of financial trouble and he said something about title loans philadelphia. I think he had to get a title loan on his car? I don’t really understand title loans all that much. I think he’s fixed that situation now though.

It was good talking with my cousin. I’m going to try to keep in touch with him and a few of my other cousins and other relatives more often. If I’m still feeling a little off this week I’ll just relax and make phone calls. At least I’ll be doing something productive.
