I sure hate telephone scammers since they actually mess up your life. I jump to the phone, leaving stuff behind, stopping what I was doing.. just to find out its another Sale Call.
Once when a survey call came in, I asked the poor peson on the other side if he REALLY cares for my answers.. when he said “Sure I care” I told him, “OK, then give me your home phone, and after you finish your 8 hour day shift at the call center, I will call YOU home and tell anything you wish to know..”

This is one of the reasons why I don’t have a home phone, that and the bill. A cell phone is enough for me, although I’ve started receiving a lot of advertising SMSs lately.

Our home is really close to getting rid of our home line for this exact reason. 90% of the calls we get are from either scammers (“you’ve won a trip!”) or some companies satellite operations (“Hi, I’m calling from Rogers and would like to know …”). Its odd but our home phone line is barely a step up from my Junk folder in email.

Some of them are not scammers. A lot of them are just telemarketers offering to help you save money. But either way, it is frustrating. I’m running out of witty comments to tell them so I just hang up. I prefer to save money the legitimate way.

That has got to be super annoying. Sounds to me like they need to update the do-not-call list to cover country to country calls. Let the same rules apply no matter where they call!

We have been getting endless calls and we are on the national “do not call list”. Suddenly that hasn’t seemed effective. So….my husband put the 3 tones that are heard when you reach a disconnected number onto our answering machine well before our voice message. This way when the automated phone dialing machines get this tone sequence a couple of times, it signals their computer to delete you from the list! It has been effective is decreasing the amount of calls.

These telephone scammers are really irritating. They will keep on calling you even if you say them that you don’t need their product. These days these scammers have started sending sms as well. This is very irritating as well.
