A few years ago my wife bought a gas fireplace for me for
Christmas. We have really enjoyed it. Since our heat is all electric, it gives us a heat source if the electricity goes out.

Adding an electric fireplace is a good solution for anyone who doesn’t already have an existing fireplace. It’s relatively inexpensive and today’s designs provide a much more realistic look to them than in years past.

Fireplaces are a great way to add value to your home. Not only do they add ambiance, but they can also function as an efficient source of heat.

There are many effective heating choices to consider. For example, pellets are a clean-burning, renewable energy. Coal is also clean-burning, plus it doesn’t produce creosote, the dark soot that can build up in wood-burning fireplaces. Gas or electric fireplaces offer realistic-looking fire using lifelike logs with built-in controllable heaters.

We have a moderately big house and we have installed a gas fireplace. I really love my fireplace.

A little history that might not be known is that before electric fireplaces were used in homes they were used on stage to simulate fire but were not refined enough for the home.

A little tech that people might not know as well is that the electric fireplace is technically composed of a fuse of organics – translucent calcite stone, bee’s wax, sand or glass, magnetic impulse flame, glowing stone, and frosted or wax sleeves which all combine to create the visual ambiance.

Ventless fireplaces are a great solutions for any household, however they usually don’t produce enough BTUs to be a primary heating source. It’s generally a good idea to use them as a secondary source or strictly for astestics.

i think you cant beat a real wood fire but they are messy, some new gas and electric ones are quite real looking

A gas fireplace is probably going to be cheaper in the long run because electricity costs a lot of money these days. There are many great models available for both types.

I think I’d go for an electric fireplace, mainly because they consume much less energy than wood burning or gas fireplaces, there isn’t nearly as much hassle with them and they also look very nice.

If you want to make your home more green, you should definitely go for an electric fireplace!
