What’s blooming in your garden?

Pink Tulip

So far we don’t have any spring flowers blooming in our garden. In fact most of our yard and garden beds are still covered in snow. However, I’m sure that’s not the case for everyone! Surely some of you are starting to see spring flowers?

I’m getting antsy to see our plants start to sprout from the ground. It’s warming up and the snows melting so I know I won’t have to wait much longer.

The flower that I’ve posted today is one of my Angelique tulips. This is a double flowering tulip. When it blooms it has an abundance of petals and almost looks like a rose. It’s lovely and it has a nice light scent as well.

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information. GTS participants remember to check in at As the Garden Grows each week so that we’ll know you made a new post!

What do you get a kid that has everything?

March 28, 2008 by Tricia

I just remembered that it’s my nephews birthday next week. I hope that I’m feeling well enough to go shopping tomorrow.

Our nephews in Chicago so I’ve got to get something fast and then send a package off to him.

What do you get for a hockey loving 15 year old boy? Yeah, something hockey would be obvious, but he plays hockey and trains year round (he’s the one that comes to Ontario for hockey camps in the summer) so I don’t think he needs anything in that area.

I was think of maybe getting him some cool boardshorts since they fit his style and maybe a video game. Does that sound like a good gift?

If you have any ideas let me know as I’ve got to get something by tomorrow!

Not looking my best

Tired Kitty

This cat looks pretty much how I look right now.

Being sick doesn’t become me.

My hairs sticking up and I’m wrapped up in my oldest worn and weary housecoat. Lovely image huh?

Knocked out by the flu bug

March 28, 2008 by Tricia

I was just saying in another post on my other blog that I spent the entire day in bed! I didn’t get up until around 9 pm! Of course now I’ll probably end up being up all night. Thank you flu bug you really know how to ruin a day.

Well I guess my body must have needed the rest. I do feel a bit better.

I guess there’s worse things that I could have been doing with the flu rather than lying in bed. I could have spent that time in the bathroom getting to know the bathroom fixtures intimately! LOL

I think I’ll just relax and watch TV for a while now. My husband was channel surfing and he’s just come across a BBC taping of the Rolling Stones in Concert in 1968 on PBS. I love the Stones. I’m happy to watch that for a while.

Now I’m getting the flu too

March 27, 2008 by Tricia

Oh oh, I think I might be getting that flu that Chris has now too. I felt like crap all night last night and all day.

Chris got up today to go to work, but he came back upstairs at 8:30 to ask me to call in sick for him. I’d just fallen asleep. Well, I’d fallen into a light sleep full of really strange dreams and then Chris came in the room saying “I’m sick – call my boss for me?”. I didn’t mind doing that for him, but I wish he hadn’t woken me up.

If this is the flu it’s a weird flu. I feel a little bit nauseous, but then I feel that way on and off with my Crohn’s too. Mostly I just feel blah … and weak and dizzy. Oh and my tongue feels like home theater carpet. Maybe I should go get some water?

It seems that the flu is really hitting Toronto hard. We’re apparently in an “unofficial” quarantine. I’m not exactly sure what that means … maybe there’s unofficial travel advisories?
