I’ve got to remember Dahlias for next year!

I grew this dahlia last year and I never did get around to finding more like this one to plant this year. I just loved the type of flowers that this dahlia produced. It’s quite pretty isn’t it?

I had planted this flower in my front boulevard. It’s a short dahlia – only about two feet tall, so it fits most small garden beds quite nicely.

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information.

This is the Tiffany Rose. Aren’t it’s delicate petals beautiful?

I’ve only got one of these rose plants and I find it rather stingy with it’s beautiful flowers, but when it does produce some blooms they are absolutely outstanding!

Just as good the second time round

October 26, 2007 by Tricia

Yum!

We ordered Greek food from our favorite Greek restaurant last night and I suppose they have generous but not overly large servings.

It doesn’t matter to me how large a serving is these days anyway as I can’t eat a lot of food at one time. This works out good though as I usually end up eating only half of what I ordered which of course means that I can have the yummy food again the next day!

And that’s what I did this evening. Finished up last nights Greek dinner.

I ate my meal a while ago, but I held off on the salad until a few minutes ago. Now I have the pleasant salty taste of feta, olives and what I believe was Italian dressing.

Puffy due to new meds!

October 26, 2007 by Tricia

I didn’t say anything about this, but a few weeks ago when I saw one of my doctors they finally decided to try me on prednisone for my Crohns.

So far it doesn’t seem to have helped my symptoms or my pain. What it has done though it make me puffy! Geez …I’m traveling out of the country in two weeks. Everyone wants to look their best while on vacation and here I am starting to look like a puff ball thanks to my medication! I almost feel like going out and buying some diet pills. I won’t – but it’s frustrating!

When I feel up to it I get on the elliptical machine we bought a couple of weeks ago. I still haven’t used it enough to build up much endurance though. It’s really hard when you don’t feel well all the time! I certainly hope the steroids begin to work the way they should as I’d love to feel a little bit better!

Leaky basements!

October 26, 2007 by Tricia

Shortly after Chris came home from work this evening we got a call from our neighbor across the street. Well her son called us actually. Her husband died two weeks ago and at first we thought that something might have happened to her as well when her son called!

Luckily he was just calling because he’d been a great son and he’d purchased his mother a new LCD TV. Trouble was he couldn’t get it into the house by himself and he needed Chris to give him a hand. No problem at all.

These poor people. A day or two after our neighbors husband died we had a crazy rainstorm that I guess ended up causing a pipe to overflow or burst in their basement! Her whole basement was water damaged!

Every day since then I’ve seen plumbers and contractors going in and out of her house. Chris says they’re breaking up all the cement in the finished basement so that they can put in a whole new cement base or foundation! Huge job obviously! They have one section partitioned just for their tool storage for this big job.

I guess the only good thing about this happening to our neighbor is that she’s probably been kept busy over the last two weeks. I’m sure she’s grieving and sometimes keeping busy is the best medicine.

I’m so happy that our basement has never shown any signs of leakage! When I was looking for a house to buy I must have looked at 50 houses over a months time. April of all months! However it turns out that rainy April was a good time to look at houses. Almost all the houses that I looked at had leaks in their basements! In fact, this house was the only one that I looked at that had a dry basement. Obviously it was a good buy!
