That is indeed a beautiful photo. (wandered over via google search on Trillium). However, whoever sold that to you as Trillium grandiflorum had *no* clue — that’s Trillium erectum!

It could have been white the first year — I believe that it is a hybrid — members of that group of Trillium hybridize quite easily. It would be interesting to track the flower color from year to year. It wouldn’t surprise me if it can change!
