Grey’s Anatomy debut’s Addisons new show

May 4, 2007 by Tricia

So, who watched Grey’s Anatomy last night? I didn’t realize that it was going to be a two hour show, but after watching it i can see why. They kept flitting back and forth between regular Grey’s anatomy and as far as I know the as yet unnamed new show that Addison (Kate Walsh) will be moving over to next season.

I kind of liked what I saw of the new show … it was a good introduction to the characters and I certainly like all of the actors that will be in it. Mmmmm Still, as my husband said it’s got a soap opera kind of feel to it. He compared it to Desperate Housewives which he dislikes. I don’t think the new show will be quite like D.H. but from what I can see it’s not going to be at all like Grey’s Anatomy either. I can also tell you that neither show comes close to a real life hospital either!

I found myself teary eyed several times throughout the show. Yes I’m a sap! Too many of the story lines hit close to home I guess. Chris and I want to have a baby and due to my illness it’s not happening so it kind of hit me when Addison was going through her emotions when she found out she couldn’t have children.

Also, the death of Meredith’s step mother hit me too. The anguish on her lost fathers face got to me, and I could understand his anger at the medical system first being told that it was just a simple infection and not understanding how it could get so out of control.

I keep wondering if George (T.R. Knight) is going to leave the show. I mean if he transfers to another hospital … well it’s not the one that Addison will be working in next season so where does that leave him? If he does leave I wonder if has to do with all the ruckus about Isaiah Washington’s remarks earlier this year when he called him a fag? You gotta wonder.

What did you think of the episode?

Reading blogs always make me curious of the TV shows that’s going on in the world, since:

    1) We don’t have them here in Sweden.
    2) I don’t watch TV – I always blog instead 🙂

Because I’m a CSI addict, I watch Grey’s Anatomy on Friday nights. I’m glad they show the same episode on two different nights. You’ve given me a nice preview.

The trouble with watching Grey’s on Friday nights is that I miss House. Dang it. Why don’t they put one of these shows on Mondays, when I’m hard-pressed to find anything I like to watch?

    Another Grey’s fan! Yay!

I only half-watched last night’s ep because I was on a very long phone call. I hate that. But now I am thrilled to learn (thank you, Donna W!) that I have a chance to watch the ep over again on Fridays. I didn’t know that. Double yay!

Actually, I’ve never seen GA. It hasn’t really appealed to me.

Halfway through and not impressed. I hate it that we have to get to know all these new characters in 2 hours, and all of the little backstories – just show me what Meredith and the interns are doing, dang it!

What I think: Hmm, well I’ve never seen the show. I observe my American wife watching it though (while I am blogging:-) and that’s hilarious! She complains that we are once season behind in Norway, but that doesn’t seams to keep her from watching.

Btw: thanks for your reply on my note:-)

Donna I mostly only see that there are old reruns of House on Friday nights. New shows are on Tuesdays – do you ever catch them then? Oh yeah, sometimes I catch a CSI Miami late on a Sunday night.

We have time shifting on our cable TV box so when we go to the higher channels we can catch shows an hour or two ahead of time out east, or late at night out west.

It’s great on those nights like Thursdays when there are a lot of good shows all between 8 pm and 10 pm on the regular channels. We program our DVR (like a TIVO) and start taping some of the shows from 6 pm right up until midnight sometimes … of course we usually can’t watch them all the same evening but it gives us some great shows to watch on the weekend when there isn’t much on.

Colleen – yeah I’m not sure that I’m going to like the new show either. Meredith and the gang seem a whole lot more interesting don’t they? Although I didn’t mind the looks of a few of the men on the new show. Eye candy is always appreciated.

Renny your wife might be able to catch up on the internet if she wants to watch the shows online. I know that there’s a few places you can do that. A lot of Europeans tend to do that.

I guess you’re watching her watch G.A. is a lot like me watching my husband watch Family Guy. He loves that show and giggles the whole way through. If I want to see it I have to watch it a second time just so I can hear what they are saying. Chris is so loud when he laughs! LOL

I’m not too sure where the show is intending on going. Addison, George and Cheif Webber are all supposedly “leaving”, that’s almost too many characters too quickly for my taste. It’s almost like they’re trying to sabotage their own show or something. I can deal with Addison leaving and maybe the Cheif, but George? I don’t think so, he has such an important role in the show.
Also I feel really bad for Callie, I can understand that George loves Izzie but it’s not fair for Callie. She didn’t do anything to deserve that. George shouldn’t have married her on impulse.
There’s just so much going on at this point of the show it’s almost overwhelming. Cool blog by the way.
