Advantages of becoming a top commenter on this site

March 25, 2007 by Tricia

In an earlier post I was telling you that I’ve been working on our sites and that I’ve added a few new WordPress plugins as well.

One of the new plugins is one that allows me to show who my top commentators are in my right side bar.

See that area below Recent Comments? Yep, that’s where my top commentators for each month will be show. I can change that to daily, weekly, monthly or yearly top commentators if I want. Right now it’s set to monthly but I might change it to yearly.

One thing that I like about this new plug in is that it gives my top commentators a real link. There is no rel no follow tag added to the link, so Google can pick up the link. This might help you, my visitors and those making comments, build your sites Page Rank. So it’s in your best interest to leave comments on this site and work towards becoming the top commentator each month.

This is awesome. People often don’t realize how much this means for Google rankings, but the really can help. For example, do a search for “anita” or “mr. fabulous” in Google, and you’ll see how much this can help in traffic building.

Wow! I Googled your name and your site came up fourth! Pretty good! Your name is 5th in my top commentator list so that should help too!

Checked mine and it’s fourth for my name as well .. and my old blog space for Tricia’s Musings is 5th, Gardening site 16th, and my reptile site 18th – my reptile site used to be number 1 for Tricia before Tricia Helfer the model came along! LOL oh well … most of the Tricia’s in the top 10+ are CANADIAN. LOL

It might be a good idea for people to sometimes sign with a keyword that describes their site as that will help in search engine rankings as well.

After you installed the top commentator plugin did you notice an increase ion spammy comments on your blog? I am looking into the possibility of installing it myself in conjunction with the dofollow plugin.
