The Cloud Gate

This weeks theme is Silver

You want silver? I’ll give you silver! This is the Cloud Gate sculpture in downtown Chicago. I was there in August and was just amazed by the beauty of this huge silver “Bean” as Chicagoans call it.

Here’s a closer view – see how everyone is just amazed as they stand and look at it?

You could easily spend hours there looking at it from all angles and seeing what you could see reflected in it’s shiny dome. You could also walk below it where the sculpture becomes concave. The reflections when you are underneath it are like looking in one of those crazy funhouse mirrors.

If you ever visit Chicago I recommend that you go to see this sculpture. You’ll love it.

I know I would get dizzy looking at it from beneath the bean… hey, that is a great title… Beneath the Bean. Anyway, this is very cool, like a fish eye lens! One word of advice for those who go… wear black.
    Mine is up too.

I used to live in Chicago, and was pretty excited when they talked about building “the bean”. I didn’t realize it was finished though, very cool!

BTW – thanks for notifying me about my nomination! I don’t like to “pimp my own blog” too much, so I’m hoping people vote on it for its merits rather than because I put a post on my site.

Have a great rest of weekend,
    Anita

Wow! That is just so gorgeous.
Wasn’t able to join the Photo hunters. I was at a loss when I was going to post and all of a sudden I couldn’t open my own blogger as I was switched to the new blogger buzz and not the blogger beta. They said blogger beta is already dead and this is the new one. So anyway, no Photo Hunter today but have something special for everyone. I find it better than silver or gold Please do visit if you have the time.
