Such a fluffy rose

Sharifa Asma English Rose

Sharifa Asma – a lovely English rose.

Just looking at this photo brings the scent of this rose to mind. It has one of the most beautiful rose scents that I’ve ever smelled.

My Sharifa Asma is about five years old and grows to approximately 3 to 4 feet in height each year. It’s fairly hardy, probably a zone four with some protection.

It’s flowers are multi-petaled as shown above. They are what I call “fluffy” roses. They have more of an old rose look when the flower bud is first opening but as the flower matures the petals let loose and you get a full and fluffy look like I’ve pictured above.

Do you grow English Roses? Which ones are your favorites?

My faves are the english, especially the cultivars by David Austin –
they cant be beat for vigour, flowering and scent!!
Try his Gertrude Jekyll if you like pink
and his Pat Austin if you like a coppery orange – these two are amazing performers in my garden.

Your Sharifa is gorgeous, and I loved your post with Sunsprite too – well grown!
