LOL well, Ben ... from you address it looks like you're in Australia and I'm in Canada so no, I'm not your complaining neighbor. My renter neighbors are people we just got out of jail, callous enough to have robbed their own parents and sister and do drugs constantly ...

Actually I live in a really good neighborhood. The homes have gone up in price since we moved here and now average about $400,000 to $450,000 - plus just down the street (literally 10 houses down on a side street) there are a few houses that went from bungalows to two and three story homes that have sold for close to a million dollars. So yeah ... it's a good neighborhood house wise and people wise.

In my particular area, most of the residents were older - they'd lived in their homes for 40 years or so - when we first moved in in 2001, but of course many of them have now either died or moved on to live with their children or gone to retirement homes so new people are moving in. Still ... the neighbors are for the most part quite good and since our homes are so close we all look out for each other and we're fairly friendly with each other. Read some of my older posts about neighbors having parties and sending over food to us etc or dropping in to give us Christmas gifts.

What happened to the house next store is that the older lady who lived there since we moved in had a stroke (almost two years ago) and ended up moving in with her youngest son. She doesn't want her home sold so the son is renting the house out.

The first renters were awful - they destroyed the carpets and painted the inside of the house (latex over oil) so all the walls were peeling paint. They also damaged chandeliers that the home owner had made herself (she used to work in a glass company). So after fixing all the damage from the first renter, the stupid son rented the house out to a "friend" of the first renters and believe me ... they're even worse! I'm starting to think that they might be making and or selling drugs! These people have to go - NOW!

The rent they are charging for the whole house is also very low. I'm sure if the rent were 1,500 or higher we'd get some neighbors that were a little better.

Oh my goodness! What kind of a neighbourhood are you living in? This is just nuts!
But being a real estate salesperson I can understand what you're going through. I see people like these all the time. There have been a lot of times where owners wanted to sell the house but the tenants would not allow us to view it so costing owner monthly expenses as the tenants were not paying the rent either.
While there have been others who've left the place a total mess when they left so the owner couldn't sell it until thousands of dollars worth of work had been done to bring the place up to selling standard! Best of luck! :-)

We've had similar problems with renter neighbours and it can be a real problem.

We've tried talking to them but it seems to have little impact. The only positive for us is that they don't tend to stay living there for long (they rent), so hopefully things will get better when the next lot move in.

Holy crap! I am so lucky I have never had neighbours like that. The girl who lives in the suite beside me is a little loud and fights with her bf a lot but that is actually kind of entertaining lol! I'd be torn about informing the cable company about them, people are crazy these days, they might shoot you or something. Srsly, you just never know. I hope they get evicted soon! OMG.

that sounds so very sad. how can this child grow up to be a happy and functional member of society. sometimes i wish we could do what is right rather than the broad strokes of legality. My home was broken into recently and at the hardware store buying stuff to fix and lock the window i met a guy with a similar story but the renters stole his guitar collection. He found his guitars in a pawn shop and the kid went to prison. good luck. work on karma and cook them an awesome Christmas dinner and drop it off Christmas morning. it is easy to love people you love. try it with someone worthy of your hate.

It's a fact of life that good neighbours will move on, while you can't seem to get rid of the bad ones.
