Awe, sorry to hear that!! Hope that Midnight will be OK again soon!

Family of mine also had a pitch black labby who was just as hooked on swimming. She wouldn't get out of the water until she was so tired that she nearly drowned.

Your pictures are lovely. Brings back fond memories.

So sorry to hear what happened to your dog. I wonder what it was in the water that caused all her claws to break off. One day we were sitting with my cat and realized that one of his paw claws was totally missing all the way down to the bareness. No bleeding or pain, strange - hopefully it will grow back and hopefully your dogs claws will grow back norally as well.

Poor thing, hope she is on the mend? Again, good to see her enjoying the water, my dog (toy poodle) won't go anywhere near water.

Trish,

I'm really sorry to hear about Midnight's feet...

We have a 3 yr old Yorkie and twice now he has managed to rip off one of his toenails. It is so sad to see him limping around when we really don't know what to do for him. It is hard seeing him in pain and I feel for you having to see Midnight in so much pain after hurting ALL four of her feet!

As for the licking, I could be wrong but I was always taught that licking is how dogs clean their wounds and that it helps to keep from getting infected. Like I said, I am not expert and could be wrong but we have never stopped a dog from licking their wounds have so far none of them has ended up with infection...

Anyway, good luck with Midnight and I am sure she will be out swimming and having a great time soon!

Aw what a sweet picture of your dog. Sorry to hear about her injury. We have two pit bulls who also love the water at the beach as well as the pool in our backyard. We often will throw them sticks or balls and they will run all around the pool and then jump in. Unfortunately our boy dog had the same problem. He rubbed his toenails right off! Poor thing. We had a rough time trying to get him to stop the licking but the vet said that his slobber wouldn't hurt anything. Thanks for sharing!!
