Well it is sad that Google is not rectifying it. Google did show some sensitive area of India as well. Terrorists can easily target those area with few clicks of the finger.

Well Ricky … Google Streetview for Canada only started on October 7th so it’s only been a few days where the public has been able to access it. I think it’s likely they’ll correct the CN Tower mess up soon as it’s a famous Toronto landmark.

Hey Dorothy .. thanks for trying to comment again. I can’t figure out why you are having trouble. I thought it was my anti-spam plugin (WP-Spamfree) but it doesn’t seem like it is since your comments are showing up in the blocked comment logging file that I turned on. Hmm i wonder if it’s an add-on on your browser that’s causing a problem … do you have a javascript blocker or perhaps a no ads add on?

Is anyone else having trouble when they try to comment on posts on this site? If so, please leave a comment on the contact form as that seems to work fine, and let me know if you see any errors when you try to comment. Thanks!

I was surprised to find the other day that google street view was working. What i want to know is when they took these pictures? I never saw anyone take these pictures! Reason im so curious is because on my street view is a car i purchased 2 weeks ago, my office is facing the street, never saw anyone taking photos

There are always pros and cons in technological evolution.
You can’t only get the best things sometimes it is accompanied with worst things also!

Hey Ricky, you are correct the Mumbai 27/4 attack also planned through by Google map only, after they reached mumbai they use Google maps through cellphones and they went to their area etc etc..

Tricia (571 comments.) said in October 14th, 2009 at 2:06 pm

Zebra – you don’t say where you are – Are you in Toronto? It said on the news that they’ve been taking pictures in Toronto since 2007, but news stories about Google car sightings didn’t really come out until earlier this summer in June.

I didn’t seem them drive by my house either, but judging from the way things look ie no leaves on trees, no flowers coming up in my garden and no snow the pictures of my house and street must have been done in late March or early April.

Nile I didn’t know that they used Google Maps when they planned their attack in Mumbai. Even so … if Google Maps didn’t exist they would have used normal maps or some other tool for their planning. Sad but true.

Very interesting sometimes how errors make you see things a different way. The first photo reminded me of the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia and confused me for a minute before I understood what was going on. Its fun to play with, you can’t expect to much precision at this point. Imagine how much time it takes to map everything!

Hi Tricia, sorry, I’m not from Canada, so forgive my question. Is it supposed to be one or two towers?
Thanks: Rob

Tricia (571 comments.) said in October 15th, 2009 at 11:43 pm

Bloggers Payback the CN Tower is the worlds tallest tower. You’ve never seen it?

Yes it’s supposed to be one long skinny tower like this photo I took of it at sunset from the lake, or these photos from the base of the tower.

That’s a very interesting ante dote about Google. That just goes to show you that no one or nothing is perfect.

Google recently built a new server farm in my neck of the woods and looking at the job requirements it was mind boogling. They expected a TON of formal education AND related work experience.

Part of negotiations involved special tax incentives granted by our local and city and county and they’d help stimulate the local economy by hiring locals.

Most of the work force where I live are not technical in nature–hence Google did most of the hiring by promoting from within or getting folks from other areas.

Lol..this one’s a nice find :) The image splitting of the top half of the tower is acceptable. But the double tower makes me lol.. You could report this to Google, rather.. :P

Same warping/distortion happened with the tower here in Sydney. Google Aus fixed that up quick when it made the news. Must have been a slow needs day.

Hi Tricia,

Google hasn’t done my area yet (whitby), or haven’t posted it yet anyway. I hope it’s a good shot when they do though. My wife likes to leave the garbage and recycling on the porch for me to put in the garage when I get home. That would be embarrassing if they got a picture of that, lol.

I’m sure there has to be a website dedicated to funny or interesting things found on Google Streetview. I’ll let you know if I find anything interesting in the GTA.

I noticed that the tower was split. I am just glad Google didn’t see me walking around in my underwear through my street level window.

I was excited when Google maps came out, and now this. Awesome.

I’m not sure if google can “mess up”. Are you sure it isn’t our perception of reality that is wrong?

Scotia Systems (0 comments.) said in December 14th, 2009 at 5:45 am

Tricia,

If you like this – did you hear about the Canadian musician that followed the StreetView cars around and managed to get himself and an advert photographed? :-)
