Prior to that of course I have to make sure I'm not allergic to dogs (I'm allergic to dust and pollens). We named our dog 'Bandit'. Now, I find myself googling up about dogs. I was not that interested about dogs until we got Bandit. I find it funny how we are beginning to treat her like a human member of the family, even more tenderly in fact.
