I started Firefox on version 3, so did not know about Linky.

I use the EC Toolbar to open up all my Favorites and Inbox sites in tabs. I’m guessing you mean something else.

Have you tried manually searching for an update to Linky? I have Firefox 3.0.4 and my linky works fine.

I use Linky with new Firefox.

I stopped by to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. I hope 2009 is a good year for you and your health.

All the best.

I don’t personally use Linky, but I did think you might like to know that using old versions of software create a security risk. Also, there is free software out there you could download that will keep some of your software up to date and safe. Check out Personal Software Inspector(PSI). I know this because there was recent article by Stewart Francis about this on the site I guest blog on.

I use Linky with Firefox 3.0 without a problem.

I still use Linky add-on with Firefox 3 with no problem. But there’s some way to open multiple tabs in FF without add-on. You can check my post here

What I wonder is if there is a tool to automatically open up multiple URLs in multiple tabs when I open up Firefox. For example, when I open Firefox, I would like to have my Twitter account, my Zoomit Canada account, my Sphinn account and my blog home page all open up for me automatically. Anybody know of such a tool?

This is a good discussion, so I just zoomed this post at http://tech.zoomit.ca/addons-to-open-multiple-links-in-firefox/

Sorry Never heard of linky, but Can you try to use the tabs using Ctrl+t?

Amy B (1 comments.) said in December 15th, 2008 at 6:27 pm

I didn’t know there was an add on to open multiple links. I have just been doing it the hard way by holding down the ctrl button and clicking each link to open it in another tab. But now that I know there is something easier I am going to be searching that out.

Thanks for all of the responses.

Ever since I upgraded to Firefox 3 many many months ago my Linky addon stopped working. it was just a grayed out addon with no ability to change options or enable. With each upgrade of Firefox or addons I kept looking to see if Linky was enabled again but it never was. I did search for other addons that did the same thing and I checked out the Linky page but I had the most current version of the addon and it wasn’t working so I just assumed it didn’t work with Firefox 3.

After discovering that some of you are using Firefox 3 and your Linky is working I decided to uninstall the Linky addon and then I went searching for it and reinstalled it. Guess what??? It works now!

I’m so happy! I love this addon. I run several large blogrolls and this addon makes it so much easier to open up several sites in new tabs so I can check on the sites that are in my lists.

Thanks again for your comments. I’m sure it would have taken me quite a while longer before I tried uninstalling and reinstalling if it hadn’t been for your response.

Jean Luc Linky is great if you find you need to open up several links at once. I got mine working again, so as others have said in this post it does work with Firefox 3!

Kathy I use the Entrecard toolbar as well and I love it for when I’m trying to visit Entrecard sites, but I run several large blogrolls and Linky makes it so much easier for me to check sites on my lists. I got it working with Firefox 3 now too, so I’m happy.

Jennifer yes I did search for a Linky upgrade but I had the latest version. I finally uninstalled and then reinstalled and it’s now working! I’ve gone so many months without it. I’m happy I can use it again.

Tricia (571 comments.) said in December 15th, 2008 at 9:30 pm

Brad yes I had that version of Linky. I got mine working after uninstalling. Something must have gotten corrupted or something.

Cybercelt – I uninstalled Linky and then reinstalled and it’s working now.

Thank you so much for the holiday wishes. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and happy new year as well.

Bonnie thanks for that tip. I downloaded the software and I’ll try it out sometime this week when I have time to do some updates. I do try to keep all of my installations up to date, but I’m sure there are a few older versions of some software on the computer.

Tricia (571 comments.) said in December 15th, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Karen I got it to work. Mine was just grey in the addon area. I tried uninstalling it. Restarted Firefox and then reinstalled (i did have the latest version previously but it didn’t work) and ta da! it worked again.

If it hadn’t been for several of you telling me that Linky was working in Firefox 3 I’d still be without my handy little tool. Thanks!

Tricia (571 comments.) said in December 15th, 2008 at 9:38 pm

Nita I finally got Linky to work, but thanks for your response. I didn’t know you could hold ctrl and click a link and that it would open in a new tab, so I learned a new trick. :)

Tricia (571 comments.) said in December 15th, 2008 at 9:44 pm

David thanks for the Zoomit! :)

I open up a few of my sites automatically when I start up Firefox. What you need to do is add all the urls to your homepage setting.

Go to TOOLS -> Options –> Main and in the homepage section type in the urls that you want to open at startup leaving a space between the urls.

It slows the load time (quite a bit!) so I wouldn’t add too many urls. Even two urls there can slow the load down substantially. I actually only open up two of my sites at start up. I usually hit the Firefox icon and then walk away to go and make a coffee or something. :)

I hope this is what you where looking for.

Amy you’ll love Linky. I got mine working again and I’m a happy camper again.
