That's terrible...Have you ever thought about getting shots through your allergist. Getting desensitized? Just a thought. The other thing is...my wife has been sick for the last three years. She has experienced a wide range of strange symptoms, ranging from mild to severe and life threatening. Some of which are allergy related. Finally, we figured out that she has a really bad gluten allergy. She was eating it every day. It wasn't like she'd eat something and have a reaction. It was just constant problems. Her body was basically attacking itself and caused some strange autoimmune type symptoms. She'd get random allergies and reactions. It affected a lot of her organs and she's been off of it for over a year now and is still healing, but doing much better. It took her doctors a long time to figure it out b/c she didn't have the typical symptoms. B/c she was allergic to gluten, it ended up making her more sensitive and allergic to other things as well. Maybe that isn't related to what you're going through...but it is actually very common...both gluten and milk allergies. If you haven't ever looked into it, maybe it is a good idea. Just thought I'd put it out there, just in case. Hope you feel better!

Wow, I'm sorry to hear of your allergic reaction but I've never heard of cloudy vision as a symptom.

My uncle also had some kind of eye allergy too but he's a big doxie lover. He had to drive near the lake or to the forest, near the small river so he could get less reaction. One that really helps is his special gurgle.

I had the exact same problem... but it wasn't any particular allergic reaction...

I have no idea what I was allergic to but it was.... probably something to do with the hard contact case i borrowed. I was probably allergic to some residue of the hard contact washing solution. I was playing badminton and wondering why the room got cloudy and my astigmatism to light got worse and worse...

Normally light got dispersed to about 6 points, but now it was like 100 points. Then when I took out my contacts 2 hours after (I washed them a few times thinking it might be something in the contacts) but any eye drops or anything made it worse.

I did end up going to the hospital at 3 am, but yeah the horrendous part lasted a good 12 hours. My eyes were throbbing and the swelling didn:t let me sit in any good position, so I was bent over likea dog on my bed for like a good 7 hours while withstanding the contracting eye muscles every 30 seconds, with tears pouring and nose dripping.

So now I really think it wasn't damaging chemical but must have been an allergy. The doctor said in Japanese, it was not bacterial because it was too fast.

That sounds terrible! Hope you are feeling better! I too know the frustration and pain when dealing with contact lenses. Just goes to show you that you need to be really aware of your surrondings and any possible irritants you might be exposed too. Also doesn't hurt to carry around an eye-wash fluid around with you in your purse in case of such emergencies as the story you described.

Oh, you poor thing! Eye problems are AWFUL! It was probably a combination of being in close proximity to a ton of things your allergic to, along with the dust from stuff like cat litter and pet food containers that break open...plus, with the dry air in the store it can really mess with your vision!

I hope things clear up for you!
