I'm stupid. I actually buy the books I read - and I like reading ... which means that if I could use the Booksfree service (I'm in Canada so I can't) I'd actually save a lot of money by just renting the books. Yes I could go to a library but there isn't one close by, and I'm sick and stuck at home most of the time so the idea of Booksfree and it's convenience is very appealing.
