Wow, lots of changes. I’ll give it some thought. I’m a little short on sleep and creativity right now. I’m getting a makeover as well, and moving to WordPress and my own domain, but it is taking much longer than I thought, and so at this point I would not feel comfortable recommending my designer.

I still can’t over the fact you maintain three (more on the way?) blogs!

Back again, BlogMad hit. Thumbs up! :)

What hosting provider do you use? And do you have more info about the issue with your hosting and Go Daddy? I used to work for Go Daddy technical support and may be able to offer up a suggestion. I’ve been using them for my site for quite a while now, even while working there. And since I’ve been gone, I’m still using them and enjoying it so much. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Regardless, I wish you luck in your endeavor. And thanks for the enjoyable reads…

#1. I’ve had good luck with 1and1.com. You can get a .com for $5.99. And if your interested in hosting with them you can get 2 domains for free with the cheapest hosting package.

#2. The first thing that came to mind was to combine what you have already; planettricia & triciasplanet are both available in a variety of extensions, but honestly neither of them sound great. allthingstricia is also available.

#3. I couldn’t afford a designer to I cobbled mine together myself, so I doubt I’ll be much help of that front.

Hope this helps.

I can’t help you with a name, but I set my boys’ school site up at: ixwebhosting.com. LOVE them. Very reliable, cheap and good extras. Although their mail still goes through GoDaddy. Sigh…

eWebscapes did my design work. I like them, but the owner is getting married now, their work is backed up. If I could get them I’d look at Moxie Design, too. Hmmm… have to look for their site now.

I use namesecure, not just because their prices are reasonable, but their service is great and they support my pocket pc for when I think of a great domain at odd hours.

And I recommend Leanne at eWebscapes — she did my template and did a fabulous job, really excellent.

As for a name, I can think of none other for you than museitorloseit.com

:)

I really like Troll Baby Graphics – her designs are all top notch. Can’t help you with the domain because I bought mine from go daddy, and I’m still using Blogger because it’s free. Good luck! It sounds like a lot of work.

I am in the process of moving my 2nd domain to StartLogic.
They are cheap and I have had absolutley no problems in nearly a year with my main domain.

I’d recommend Globat.com because they sell a domain with no strings attached for $1.95. I’ve used their hosting and it’s pretty satisfactory.

Oh, and though I’m not a big fan of irrelevant comment postings, I just wanted to inform you that International Weblogger’s Day is coming up on June 14th! Be sure to spread the word.

Boy, this was weird. I was on my way home from work today when I saw a bumpersticker on the car in front of me. It was the same color green as your header. And it had white writing. And there was a somewhat similiar cartoon picture of a red head on it. I did a double take. My first thought was “Wow, Tricia is blowing up big time!”

When I got closer to it, it was a bumpersticker urging people to spay and neuter their pets.

Oh well.

Okay, I’ll pimp myself … lol

1. I doubt I could suggest anything that hasn’t already been suggested. There are some really awsome options there with regards domain registration. I do feel $15 is too much to be paying for a domain name, it should be $10 or less.

2. I feel a domain name should have some kind of theme to it that matches what it’s going to be used for, so seems I don’t really understand what it’s going to be used for then I can’t be or too much help … instead of giving actual domain names I’d like to instead give suggestions for how to come up with a name. When I picked my domain I chose an item from Neopets, now I’m not suggesting you pick something from Neopets, but if your interested in some kind of game or site then maybe something from it can spark ideas. An interest in particular themes can give good ideas such as mytical beats. Books, music, and locations can also be inspiration. My design blog is actually named after a song.

3. I’m a designer, thus the pimping myself. As you can see from my blog I do work with wordpress, but if you check my design blog (www.illdream.com) you will see that my prices are very compedative and also in my terms it does have a loophole to allow me to give individual special discounts (exspecially put there for people who want more than just a basic single blog package) so that I can make sure my clients are getting the best deal I can possibly offer.

I’m so shameless sometimes .. lol
Anyway, I do hope to see you around the shout box again!

1. I have recently moved my main domain to Hostgator.com. They have an unlimited domain host for the price of $9.95 per month. So you can get all your domains hosted in this one account for less than 10 bucks a month.

2. For a domain name, Odd Planet is short and catchy.
oddplanet.net is available, so is odd-planet.com

3. Blog design-wise, Weblog Design Studio does ‘em all! If you’re into wordpress, they have pre-made templates as well as customized and even illustration for whatever look you may want. Installation is included. http://www.blogstudios.com/

Va Va Voom said in May 25th, 2006 at 9:21 am

Oops, I forgot to mention about dynadot.com. You can buy your new domain from them under 10 bucks, that includes privacy for your domain. They are fast, easy to navigate, uncluttered and organised.

Good luck with it all, Tricia.

Surfed in thru BlogMad.

For the custom template I had (not using one now because I just moved and I have to get the $$ to get the new template) I used Blogsgonewild.net and was VERY happy! Se7en does excellent work.

I use Kris Bernard Hosting. Domains are $7.99. Sumo-cheap. She also has hosting packages. (The best part is that I get a kick-back for referring!) BIG SMILE.

You can go to my site, scroll down until you see the “Hosted by Kris Bernard” icon in the sidebar menu.

She’ll treat you right.

B said in May 25th, 2006 at 2:28 pm

For hosting I use webspacedepot.net. The package I have is only $2.50 a month and I believe they do domain names as well. Another place for domain names is web.com.

BE user here!

Buy from Namecheap.com

$8.88, very easy and clean interface, very professional, easy to self manage. Sure, its like a buck more expensive than other places, but you have complete control over your domain, and I haven’t had any troubles with them before.

I have about 8 domains with them.

As for a domain name, how about triciasmusings.com, haha. I know its not very original but why not?

Angel said in May 26th, 2006 at 10:02 pm

I really think I was on drugs for the last month because I haven’t spelled many things right. Let me know what you dig up on hosts. I am thinking of doing the same.

Andrea said in May 27th, 2006 at 1:45 am

Well, I’ll be the one with the freebies:). You can get http://www.youtitlehere.tk for free at http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html but it’s an adware – they provide normal ad-free registration too for a bit more than six bucks, I think.

As for the themes – go over to Beng Hafner’s site (http://www.lukaret.com/) and pick one- they are free and beautiful.

Willo Keays said in June 3rd, 2006 at 9:53 pm

#1 – I use hostfor2bucks.com – with WordPress – and it is working out great. I paid a bit extra for additional bandwidth. I’ve been using them for 5 years – and even hosted work domains through them as well.

#2 – Why not just musings.com ?

#3 – I’m all for doing it yourself – if you know how. I’ve done mine. Only YOU can make the site fit your personality.

Laci said in June 4th, 2006 at 12:36 pm

I’m coming up empty on 1 and 2.

As for 3, I love the work they do over at blogstudios.com. Especially Rachel (who did my current design). They have lots of great premades and do custom templates as well.
